    Field Trip Announcements:

The Old North Bridge And Great Meadows National Refuge  in Concord, MA as well as the deCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA

    Sunday, April 21, 2024

On this field trip we will meet at the North Bridge in Concord, MA at 5:30 AM for sunrise. “The North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts is often referred to as the location of the ‘shot heard round the world,’ and the beginning of the American War for Independence.” We will spend an hour and a half here in the early morning light and then move on to …

Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge which is about 10 minutes from North Bridge. “NWR is one of the many refuges along the Eastern Flyway that supports migratory birds in their annual journeys north and south. Well-known for its birdwatching opportunities, the public can also enjoy a variety of other wildlife-dependent recreational activities while visiting the refuge.” We’ll stay for two hours leaving for the next stop at 9:45 AM.

We will arrive at 10:00 AM at the deCordova Sculpture Park. Currently the Museum is not open to the public as they are undergoing the updating of their HVAC system, but everything else is. “DeCordova is internationally recognized as a major venue for the exhibition and interpretation of modern and contemporary outdoor sculpture. The Sculpture Park occupies the entire campus: 30 acres of beautifully landscaped lawns, forests, fields, gardens, and terraces on a rolling site along the shore of Flint’s Pond in Lincoln, Massachusetts.”
